366/365 - 27/9/2012

The last photo of the project! I realise it’s number 366, not 365. This year was a leap year and with this extra photo we bring the dates full circle. It works out rather nicely, this is my last day in Thailand before I go on a month long holiday in the UK. It was also Pooks Birthday, this is her and her brother who was on leave today. I’ll be continuing the project since it’s just worked out as a very nice diary and way to keep everyone up to date with what I’m doing.

Today was my last day at school and rather appropriately there was a big goodbye party going on in the evening for these teachers who are retiring so I got to say goodbye to everyone which was good.

Me and Pook went out for dinner with a couple of friends where Pam recorded me reading a series of conversations for her course. After we went to a book store to get Thai kindergartner writing books for me to practice with while I’m in the UK

Got some keys cut today. I managed to lock myself out of my room a while back and had to break the door open to get in, now I just have the padlock with one copy of they key. Need to give out some spares while I’m away.

This place couldn’t be more quiet. Hardly any students are here, the exams have finished and it’s all marking and grading, though there aren’t even many teachers around today.

Today I got the Chula University science job I was after last term. I’m very chuffed. Didn’t take many photo’s, this was from inside the van I took home after the interview.

Still nothing much going on. I got back in touch with Chula last week and after finally making it past a rather frustrating secretary I got in touch with the people running the teaching project here in Nonthaburi (the science teaching job I got last time but couldn’t take at the last minute because of visa issues) and today they emailed me asking me to come in tomorrow. So excited about that! Photography wise, I had an idea to make like a pouch type thing to put my lenses in, inside the bag. I bought a some material and other equipment from this shop, but by the time I got home the sun was setting and there wasn’t enough light to start making it.

356/365 - 17/9/2012

There isn’t a whole lot going on right now. Exams are in full swing at school, but all mine have been completed. All my work, except a register for one class, has been finished and handed in. I’m still going in to school everyday with the others, but there isn’t much to do! So, photography stuff. I’ve been trying to come up with some easy way to carry my lenses safely without the massive camera bag. This is my latest idea. Now I just need to sling in some dividers and pad it up a little to keep them safe, but they all fit, and all fit together.

QuestionHey there! I came across your tumblr while looking for some Bangkok info and decided to say Hi (I hope that's ok!) Also, I'm currently living in Indonesia and thinking about going for a week or so to Bangkok this next week. So if you have some free time and want to meet up just let me know. It would be nice to talk to someone who's been there for a while! PS. I didnt introduce myself I'm afraid. Camilla, brazilian, doing research for my masters in Indonesia :) Ps. you have some amazing pics!! Answer

Hey Camilla! Of course it’s okay to say hi :)

First, thanks. I’m really glad you like my photo’s! I’m very happy people are enjoying them. Secondly, sadly I just won’t have any free time, I’m getting ready to go home in less than two weeks now and I have so much to do and only have the evenings to do it. But if you’d like I can give you a list of places I recommend visiting while you’re in Bangkok!

If you do come I hope you have a great time, thanks for getting in touch and take care =)

We went to Hua Hin beach town today. First stop with a millitery base where Pooks younger brother is stationed. After bringing him some KFC and everyone having a catch up we headed off to the beach, a very fun day

It’s starting to rain longer and harder now. Sandbags are starting to show up along the river and parts of Nonthaburi are flooding already. I think this is the normal flooding that hits every year, no idea is the floods on the same level as last year will return though, but there is a lot of talk that is it is a strong probability
